In recent years, Guiyang has utilized its mountainous endowments to develop differentiated products tailored to local conditions. Through diverse new formats such as cave exploration, extreme adventure sports, and high-altitude paragliding, the city has transformed its landscape resources into a thriving "hot economy".
About 60 kilometers from downtown Guiyang, Shilong Cave is tucked among the mountains and waters of Qingzhen county-level city. It is one of the most representative pristine karst water caves in Guizhou province, known for its terraced travertine pools and rimstone dams.
With a vertical drop of 132 meters, the cave contains more than 30 scattered, crystal-clear blue travertine pools. In the interplay of light and shadow, it forms a dreamlike underground secret realm. It has been hailed as a "blue gem of the Earth core" hidden in central Guizhou.
Shilong Cave has created distinctive outdoor experiences featuring "Earth-core cave exploration + paddleboard drifting + gorge discovery," unlocking a new niche, high-end cultural tourism format. Visitors can paddle through underground rivers on paddleboards, immersing themselves in the vitality and grandeur of the underground landscape.
Also known as "Earth-core glass water", Huanglong Cave is located in Guankou village, Qiantao township, Huaxi district. Unlike the deep, pristine exploration of Shilong Cave, this site offers five immersive experiences: Earth-core paddleboarding, underground river trekking, rock-crevice traversing, cave hiking, and rice-field coffee.
Wearing headlamps, visitors navigate winding cave passages, explore underground rivers and stalagmites, and experience the wonders of karst geology in the dark secret realm. Geological science education, outdoor adventure, and artistic experiences are organically combined here.
In Dashi Bouyei township, Xiuwen county, Canglan · Dome Coffee has innovatively created a cave symphony concert, bringing a professional stage into the Earth-core secret realm. Surrounded by stalactites, music echoes between the rock walls. The cave's constant cool temperature blends geological wonders with musical art, creating a one-of-a-kind underground audiovisual feast.
At Hou'er Tiankeng in Kaiyang county, extreme activities such as giant swings, via ferrata climbing, vertical rope descents, and cave exploration turn the massive sinkhole into a natural adventure arena. It has attracted visitors from across the country to challenge themselves, becoming a nationally renowned mountain extreme sports destination.
Moving forward, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area will further develop their karst mountain resources, steadily diversify tourism offerings such as cave performances, mountain outdoor sports, and geological study tours; organize mountain sports events and cave cultural activities; and improve supporting service systems – all with the goal of building the region into a first-class mountain tourism destination in China.
