Guiyang brings hotpot culture to life

A hotpot festival kicked off on Aug 19 in Yunyan district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. It showcased Guizhou's distinctive hotpot culture and community life. A range of activities, including free tastings and dining vouchers, invited residents and visitors to experience the atmosphere of Guiyang's historic streets.

More than 100 varieties of Guizhou-style hotpot were on display, including sour fish hotpot, street-stall hotpot, bean-and-rice hotpot and laoguo (griddle hotpot). At the free tasting area, 60 people who signed up online got to sample authentic Guizhou hotpot and experience its distinctive blend of sour, spicy, fresh, fragrant and unusual flavors. The event also featured folk performances and interactive activities, adding to the lively street atmosphere and bringing the old city to life.

A total of 100 hotpot restaurants across three nearby streets, along with 32 long-established specialty snack shops that have been operating for 20 years, took part in the event, bringing together authentic flavors from Guiyang's old city.

Centered on Feishan Street, the event connects food and tourism resources across the surrounding streets to create a 15-minute food and cultural tourism life circle, offering visitors a wider range of local culinary experiences.
