Guiyang delivered an impressive tourism performance during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, with many cultural and tourism activities, improved transportation hubs, and the surging popularity of its "new top 10 scenic spots," establishing itself as one of Southwest China's most-watched travel destinations.

According to the 2026 May Day Travel Summary Report released by Ctrip on May 4, Guiyang ranked among the "Top 10 Emerging Destinations for Domestic Train Travel" and the "Top 10 Emerging Destinations for Domestic Flights."

Tongcheng Travel's earlier 2026 May Day Travel Trends Report named Guiyang a "Top 'Green Color Walk' Destination," making it the only city in Southwest China to make the list. With forest coverage exceeding 55 percent and urban green spaces such as Qianlingshan Park and Huaxi Wetland Park, Guiyang meets demands for both emotional value and authentic local experiences.

Guiyang is also gaining international traction, with Xiaohongshu's 2026 Inbound Tourism Trends Report, published on April 28, identifying Guiyang as a "Top 5 'Dark Horse' City," with the fastest-growing popularity among international tourists visiting China.

Beyond the popularity of the "new top 10 scenic spots," new ways to play have emerged, such as Houer Tiankeng's high-altitude S-shaped zip-lining and cliffside cafes, which have spiked popularity in mountain adventure sports, and the Pinke Comedy Improv Theater and Dinosaur Town, which have become highlights of Guiyang's nighttime economy.
