The 16th Cross-Strait and Hong Kong & Macao Arts Forum opened in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Oct 29.

Nearly 100 experts, scholars, and cultural figures from the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao convened to discuss key issues in art and culture, including national cultural identity, multi-ethnic heritage, and international artistic expression.

Running until Oct 31, the forum also features a photography exhibition, cultural exchanges showcasing Guizhou's ethnic diversity, and cultural tours.

Founded in 2009, this forum has become a vital platform for fostering understanding, building consensus, and promoting Chinese culture through artistic expression and cultural exchange.

Yu Chiu-For, executive vice president and secretary-general of the Hong Kong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, emphasized the shared cultural heritage between the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, noting that their artistic traditions are deeply rooted in Chinese culture.

Wu Zhiliang, president of the Macao Federation of Cultural Industries, highlighted Guizhou's rich ethnic culture and historical significance as a "living fossil of Chinese civilization."

He noted that the region's diverse traditions and heritage, combined with Macao's role as a bridge between East and West and its international networks, present strong opportunities.
