The 2025 Wang Yangming series of cultural and tourism activities was launched on Sept 26 at the Yangming Temple in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. This initiative seeks to revitalize Yangming culture in the new era through artistic creation, themed tourism, and cultural performances.
Activities, including calligraphy and painting, research experiences, and cultural promotion, are based on the National Cultural Heritage Administration's 2024 Outstanding Cultural Relics Themed Tourism Route, "Yangming Seeks Wisdom", and are organized in cooperation with Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces.
Zhejiang is the birthplace of Chinese philosopher Wang Yangming, Guizhou is where his philosophy of the mind was developed, and Jiangxi is where he put his ideas of meritorious service into practice.
These cultural and tourism activities include the "Yangming Seeks Wisdom" calligraphy and painting creation and exchange exhibition, which will run from Sept 26 to Nov 30. During this period, artists will visit sites such as Yangming Temple, Yangming Cave, Xiangci Temple, and Feiyun Cliff for inspiration. Their works will be displayed in Guiyang, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, and Bijie.
A concert themed around Yangming culture will be held on Oct 25. The event will feature music, dance, Peking Opera, instrumental performances, and other art forms inspired by Yangming culture, aiming to promote the philosophy of the mind.
The "Yangming Seeks Wisdom" themed experience tour was held from Sept 26 to 30. Artists, research teams, and participants from the three provinces were invited to retrace Wang Yangming's path in seeking wisdom and to experience his philosophical teaching along the journey.
