According to the Chinese online tourism provider Ctrip, as of April 16, the total tourist bookings of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, for the upcoming May Day holiday increased by 2 percent year-on-year, with hotel bookings up 44 percent and inbound travel reservations rising 35 percent.

Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen are the main source cities for visitors to Guiyang. Meanwhile, Guiyang residents preferred destinations such as Chongqing, Beihai, Dali, Kunming, and Shanghai.

Guizhou's overall tourism market also showed growth during the May Day holiday. By April 16, total tourist bookings for the province had increased by 15 percent year-on-year, hotel bookings surged 33 percent, and inbound travel reservations jumped 49 percent.

Ctrip's recent "May Day holiday travel forecast report" revealed three key trends in China's holiday tourism consumption this year: a long-distance travel boom, growth in cross-border tourism, and a surge in the popularity of county-level destinations.

Guiyang, Taiyuan, Foshan, Yili, and Lingshui ranked among the top five in hotel booking growth for long-distance destinations. Meanwhile, hotspots like Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Xi'an, Wuhan, and Qingdao continued to dominate the domestic destination rankings.
