Xiuwen county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has taken a series of measures to strengthen the management and protection of cultural relics and expand their influence.
The county has surveyed and registered cultural relics and established a database of cultural relics resources.
So far, 89 immovable cultural relics such as ancient ruins, ancient tombs, and important modern historical sites have been surveyed and registered in the county, including two national and three provincial key cultural relics protection units.
More than 40 million yuan ($5.74 million) has been allocated by superiors and self-raised funds to strengthen the reconstruction, expansion, repair and protection of cultural relics.
Also, with a focus on Yangming culture and red tourism, Xiuwen has explored innovative ways to develop and utilize cultural relics.
So far, five cultural and tourism boutique routes have been developed, with more than 6 million visitors annually.
