A four-day Miao embroidery training session was recently held in Nanming district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The training session attracted around 50 embroiderers from the district's Yongle township, and aimed to boost the protection and improvement of ethnic handicrafts, promote mutual exchange among practitioners of ethnic culture, and improve the skill level of women's Miao embroidery in Yongle township.
Miao embroidery is a symbol of Chinese culture that reflects the love and nostalgia the Miao people have for their ancestral home.
Miao embroidery is part of life for the Miao people. Almost every family has embroidery artisans and everyone wears embroidered clothes.

Miao embroidery conveys auspiciousness and is imbued with the hope and dreams of the Miao people.
Miao women pass on the art form from generation to generation, but this tradition is now facing challenges.
The handicraft enterprise that held the training session said that while improving embroiderers' skills, qualified embroiderers can also sign contracts with enterprises to help make embroidery products.
The enterprise will provide raw materials and samples for embroiderers according to market demand, and embroiderers can obtain income once a qualified product is finished.
