A tourism industry exchange and tourist route promotion meeting for the coastal city of Haikou – capital of China's southernmost island province of Hainan – was held on Nov 20 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The meeting aimed to boost tourism cooperation between Guiyang and Haikou, and to expand the development of tourism in both metropolises.
"Haikou has unprecedented advantages in cruise ship tourism, duty-free shopping and visa-free tourism," said its city deputy mayor Huang Ge.
"Through resource complementarity with Guiyang, both cities have a broad space for cooperation and great prospects for development. I hope both cities deepen their understanding, expand cooperation and innovate cooperation approaches through this meeting," Huang added.
Wang Jie, deputy secretary general of the Guiyang municipal government, said he hoped both cities would take advantage of their differences in tourism resources and their similarities in culture and jointly explore the tourism market and achieve mutually beneficial dealings.
Guests from both Guiyang and Haikou swapped ideas about improving the influence of their tourism brands. Moving forwards, plans are for the departments of both to expand joint ventures and efforts and communications to boost the high-quality development of their respective tourism sectors.
