Guiyang city – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is booming in its tourism industry.

It recently ranked among China's top 10 destinations for self-driving tours during the summer vacation, according to a report released by online travel agency Ctrip.

In July, Guiyang handled 114,000 air flights, soaring by 54.2 percent on the previous month. Passenger throughput for the month totaled 1.43 million people, an increase of 64.5 percent month-on-month.

Rail transportation also boomed. The passenger flow at Guiyang's three main railway stations in July was twice that of regular months and the maximum daily passenger flow at Guiyang North Railway Station that month came in at more than 70,000 people.

In addition, both Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area have launched various activities to stimulate the night economy and have renovated various featured and popular streets as landmark sites.

Guiyang and Guian are also moving to meet the demand to upgrade their tourist facilities and have released guidelines for the construction of high-quality camping areas and related services.

During this year's May Day holiday, hits on the online search string, called Guiyang's neighboring camping areas, increased by 50 percent on the previous year. Guiyang also ranked fifth in China for online hits on its popular camping sites during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, according to Ctrip.
