Guiyang, Guian set tourism development goals for 2022

The city of Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area – both located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently set out their culture and tourism development goals for 2022.

In 2022, Guiyang and Guian aim to achieve 31.1 billion yuan ($4.92 billion) in added value in tourism and related industries, have 20 million tourists staying overnight and achieve spending per tourist averaging at 1,370 yuan.

The growth rate of business revenue in the hotel industry in Guiyang and Guian is expected to reach 20 percent. That of culture, sports and entertainment is expected to reach 15 percent and average wage growth in the fields of culture, sports and entertainment is expected to hit 12 percent in 2022.

Moreover, Guiyang and Guian aim to have 974 tourism and related companies above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – as well as 75 accommodation-related companies above a designated size and 20 cultural, sports and entertainment-related companies above a designated size.

Guiyang and Guian will promote the launch of a 144-hour, visa-free transit policy and participate in the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

During the course of 2022, they will establish eight major tourism projects, strive for provincial cultural and tourism industrial investment funds, as well as improve the economic benefits flowing from seven tourism projects.

Guiyang and Guian will support Huaxi district and Xiuwen county to establish national cultural and tourism-integrated development demonstration areas. They will help Tianhe Lake develop as a national resort area, help Xiuwen county construct a national all-for-one tourism demonstration area and promote the quality improvement and extension of Qingyan Ancient Town, Yangming Culture Park and Yunman Lake.

To push for investment for more online tourism companies, Guiyang and Guian will enhance cooperation with leading online tourism platforms such as Mafengwo, Meituan and Ctrip.

In 2022, Guiyang and Guian will add two to three scenic spots above the national 3A-level, one provincial resort area, three travel agencies above a designated size, five starred hotels and 10 hotels for summer resorts – as well as start the construction of 17 middle and high-end hotels.

Furthermore, they will help at least two companies to apply to be provincial leading tourism companies. In addition, the two will build three demonstration shops for culture and tourism products, launch more tourist routes to meet customer needs, attract cultural and tourism projects with a signed investment of more than 12 billion yuan and complete 21 billion yuan in investment for the construction of cultural and tourism projects.
