During this year's Spring Festival holiday from Jan 31 to Feb 6, Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – welcomed hordes of tourists to its main scenic spots, hot springs and skiing slopes.

By the noon of Feb 6, Guiyang's Qianlingshan Park had been visited 189,000 times and Qingyan Ancient Town 67,900 times. Elsewhere, Guiyang Confucius Academy had been visited 51,200 times, Tianhetan Scenic Spot 44,900 times and Quanhu Park was visited 40,800 times.

Guiyang's libraries and museums also received 439,000 visitors, including 2,300 visitors at Guiyang Library and 29,300 visitors at the Geological Museum of Guizhou.

During the break, the Guiyang Bureau of Culture and Tourism inspected 20 main scenic spots and hotels to check COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures, safe operations, fire safety and special equipment.

Guiyang's administrative enforcement detachment for the cultural market inspected 487 culture business sites and found no illegal business operations.

Guiyang's scenic spots launched various Spring Festival celebration activities and offered ticket discounts. In the run-up to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games now underway, Guiyang's Gaopo Yunding Ski Slope received 8,553 skiers during the holiday, up 28.56 percent year-on-year. The ticket income was 1.31 billion yuan ($205,400), an increase of 40.92 percent.

The culture departments at the municipal and county level are also understood to have used their official social media accounts to launch online activities, such as artwork exhibitions, to celebrate the Spring Festival.
