Xiuwen county unveils new art museum

The new art museum of Xiuwen county – administered by Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – was unveiled on Nov 18, filling a vacuum in the region which is said to have previously existed for such a facility.

The art museum is also expected to provide an important cultural activity platform for the county's artists.

The museum has an exhibition hall with a floor space of about 200 square meters. At present, 100 works are being exhibited, including 25 calligraphy works, 25 artworks and 50 photographic works.

Most of the paintings, calligraphy and photography works on show are said to reflect the achievements of Xiuwen's new urbanization, new industrialization, agricultural modernization and tourism development.

There's reportedly ample space for up to 20 people in the museum's painting and calligraphy creation room to carry out creative activities.

After the unveiling ceremony, Guan Qingliang, Party secretary of Xiuwen county, visited the painting and calligraphy creation room and the painting and photography exhibition with other officials to explore the facilities.

Guan reaffirmed the importance of literature and art in society. He urged the literary and visual artists in the county to make full use of the new complex, to carry out their cultural activities and create more fine works.
