The Nanming district of Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- recently launched a blueprint on boosting local tourism, which is called the Action Plan on Improving Tourism Service Quality.

The initiative is said to be in line with the policy called the "Implementation of Opinions of the People's Government of Guizhou Province on Accelerating the Industrialization of Tourism and Striving to Achieve Great Improvement of Tourism Quality" -- and is in line with the aims of the Guizhou Provincial Tourism Industrialization Promotion Conference.

Under the new action plan, in 2021, Nanming will act to reduce the number of complaints from tourists by more than 4 percent compared with the previous year. By 2025, the goal is for the number of complaints from tourists to drop from the current level by more than 10 percent.

To achieve these targets, Nanming is aiming to boost tourism quality supervision and provide better services in terms of dining, accommodation, travel, sightseeing, shopping and entertainment.

In order to improve its tourism infrastructure, Nanming will reportedly optimize the quality of services at scenic spots, improve tourism accommodation, tourism transportation, standardize signs at scenic spots and expand the numbers of tourist toilets.

Turning to administrative matters, Nanming plans to streamline supervision systems, strengthen law enforcement and improve the protection of tourist rights and interests.

The district is also set to bolster tourism safety emergency protection, including more publicity about early warnings and extending its tourism emergency management system.

Meanwhile, Nanming plans to strictly implement ratings and review standards for tourist star-rated hotels, A-level tourist attractions, A-level travel agencies and tourist homestays. It will also accelerate the establishment of a tourism credit system.
