A series of activities for the recent Dragon Boat Festival was held on June 12-14 at the Confucius Academy of Guiyang – capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, attracting the participation of more than 360,000 people, both online and offline.

In the runup to the celebrations, the academy organized two lectures that looked at the origins, development and traditions of the Dragon Boat Festival.

This year's activity attracted people of all ages – from primary school students to college students and recitation enthusiasts – to present the festival's cultural connotations and their strong sense of patriotism through poetry readings, singing and musical instrument performances.

In addition, two experts were invited on-site to interpret the hidden secrets behind the performances, attracting the attention of nearly 300,000 netizens.

On the day, traditional activities – including making traditional zongzi snacks and weaving five-colored ropes – took place at the academy, attracting spectators.

To top it off, an estimated 60,000 people participated in various online activities, including the reading of poetry.
