Wudang district of Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 325,200 tourist visits during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, marking a year-on-year increase of 77.3 percent, according to the district's culture, sports, radio, television and tourism bureau.
During the three-day holiday from June 12 to 14, tourism revenue in the district hit 144 million yuan ($22.49 million), a year-on-year increase of 212.79 percent.
The district launched various activities during the holiday, such as rice-dumplings making, cultural and art performances, Party history knowledge Q&A and promotional seminars on public cultural service laws and regulations. Some of the events were held in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
Recommended bayberry picking routes also proved popular among tourists.
In addition, the district's culture, sports, radio, television and tourism bureau conducted inspections of tourism and cultural venues to ensure safety and the strict implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
