The third "April 8" folk cultural festival was held on May 19 in Gujin village in Xiaba town, Wudang district of Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, attracting more than 10,000 tourists.
The April 8 folk cultural festival is celebrated on that day in the lunar calendar by people of the local Miao ethnic group.
During the opening ceremony, singing and dancing activities with distinctive Miao characteristics were staged for tourists, showcasing the rich cultural life of locals.
A song themed on learning Party history was created and sung by Miao people to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
The celebrations included a square dance competition between 34 teams from surrounding towns and communities. They enhanced exchanges and friendship through dancing.
In addition, activities such as printing and dyeing of Miao ethnic clothing, experience of Miao embroidery and sewing sachets, and making glutinous rice cakes were also provided to visitors, helping them learn about the traditions of the Miao ethnic group.
