Wudang sees May Day holiday tourism surge

Wudang district of Guiyang -- capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- received 608,100 tourist visits during the recent May Day holiday, marking a 35.76 percent year-on-year increase, according to local media reports.

Tourism revenue during the five-day break hit 248 million yuan ($38.39 million), an increase of 57.91 percent.

During the holiday, a series of tourism activities were offered to visitors, including bamboo pole dances, bonfire parties, parent-child carnivals and cave explorations.

A series of fun online activities were also offered to tourists. The district also promoted activities for young people, parent-child activities, countryside excursions and hot spring visits during the break.

Libraries and cultural centers remained open during the holiday, with a variety of activities organized to attract the public.

In addition, the district's culture, sports, radio, television and tourism bureau conducted inspections of tourism and cultural venues, to ensure the safety and strict implementation of novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control measures.
