Modern dance week starts at Guiyang HIDZ

An opening ceremony for modern dance week was held at Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development zone on Oct 9 -- staging creating dances, songs from Miao ethnic group and some familiar songs.

As one of the important events of the 2019 Colorful Guizhou Culture and Art Festival, the modern dance week will continue from Oct 9 to 14. In addition to presenting works of excellent dance troupes from inside and outside Guizhou province, it will also feature professional lectures, forums and other activities.

Officials said the event was an important part of celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

They said in this critical period of fighting poverty, this year's modern dance week aims to closely adhere to the three strategic concepts of poverty alleviation, big data and ecological environment, as well as showcase the development achievements of Guizhou in recent years in the form of art.
